‘Devprayag’ was the dream of the president of Prayag Dant Vigyan Anushandhan Sansthan, Dr. Sushil Kumar Rastogi. He decided to establish a school with a vision to provide quality education without the burden of extra coaching. SHANTIPURAM: Colony in the outskirt of Allahabad

SHANTIPURAM is colony setup by ADA (Allahabad Development Authority) in the outskirts of Allahabad. It comes under one of the major suburb of Allahabad i.e. Phaphamau.

Etymology

The name Shantipuram is named randomly by ADA. It is one of the four major colonies setup by ADA.

History

Shantipuram was setup in year 2003. Firstly, RAF Colony and Homoeopathic Medical College were established. CRPF camp was also established at a certain distance from Shantipuram in Padla.

Geography

Shantipuram is located in the southern part of the state, at 25.37°N 81.51°E. It comes under Awadh Region. The Indian GMT longitude (25.15°N 82.58°E) passes near Allahabad. According to a United Nations Development Programme report, city's wind and cyclone zone is "Low damage risk".

Climate

Shantipuram has a humid subtropical climate similar to the cities in the plains of North India. The annual mean temperature is 26.1 degree celsius. Its monthly mean temperatures are 18-29 degree celsius. It experiences three seasons hot dry summer, cool dry winter and warm humid monsoon.

Here, summer lasts from April to June. Monsoon begins in early July and extends to September.
While Winter comes from December and waits upto February.


It does not snow in Shantipuram. However, you can observe a thick fog in January resulting in road traffics, travel delays and road accidents.

Biodiversity

The most common birds observed nearby areas are peacocks, house sparrows, blue jays, parakeets, quails, bulbuls, etc.

During winter, you can observe Siberian birds in river Ganga and nearby wetlands like Sangam.

Civic Administration

Allahabad has eight tehsils. And these eight tehsils are further divided into 20 blocks. 
Shantipuram comes under Soraon Tehsil and Phaphamau Constituency.

Transportation

Phaphamau Railway Junction is the nearest railway station from Shantipuram. It is 1.5 kms away from colony. However, you can find other four prominent railway stations in the city i.e. Allahabad Junction, Rambagh Station, Daraganj and Prayag Station. They are connected to the major cities of Uttar Pradesh such as Jhansi, Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Indore, Bhopal, Kanpur, Lucknow and Jaipur. You can easily find three wheeled autos for Phaphamau Railway station. Also, if you wish to go Allahabad Junction, then you may get UPSRTC JNNURM buses from the Phaphamau Junction itself. They are an important means of public transport available in the city. The JNNURM Buses from Shantipuram to Raymond Xing connects Shantipuram to Naini covering a route of 30 kms including major points of Allahabad like Allahabad University, MNNIT Allahabad, Anand Bhawan, New Yamuna Bridge, ALSTOM Company, United College, etc.
